01 / Project at a glance

A shared understanding of what is on board.

Cabin stock gets moved around from one warehouse to another, to and from aircraft, and to its final destination. Aviation TVS provides a record of movements that these teams can refer back to.

What did Team Tweaks Build?

An iPad inventory management software developed using Flutter, including operational checklists, handler management, and a Node.js backend with MongoDB.

02 / The operational challenge

Every handoff, on the record.

Prior to the app, checklists were maintained on paper, inventory in Excel, and status updates were shared over WhatsApp. We built a shared platform that gives every team an up-to-date view of checklist and inventory status.

One operational overview
Aviation stores warehouse with shelved in-flight supplies and a business jet beyond the hangar doors

Stocks are located in multiple areas.

A storage yard inventory is not sufficient to represent what exists on an aircraft, or what has been moved to another yard for the purpose of balancing stock. It was important to follow items from one location to another, whether the items were consumed, disposed of, or there was an overage or shortage of items.

Ground handlers loading laundry and catering supplies into a business jet on the apron

Ground coordination without the binder.

Laundry, cleaning and service items pass through external handlers. There was a need for a directory and dispatch workflow for tracking these external handoffs.

Checks that go to the right people.

Pre-flight, post-flight and maintenance records needed a clear channel from pilot and observer reports to the administration and engineering departments.

03 / System architecture

Native where it matters. Connected at the core.

The iPad application is developed using Flutter, while Node.js runs as the backend API for the application and stores all operational logs and information. MongoDB is the database engine, and the entire application is deployed on AWS cloud. Push notifications are handled via Firebase Cloud Messaging.

04 / The workflows

Follow the item. Resolve the exception.

The platform connects everyday stock handling with the less routine work: a missing item, an approaching expiry or a checklist observation that needs attention. Users can upload or replace the PDF manual in the app, and the team can view the latest version for reference.

Multi-tier inventory

Keep the location with the stock.

Mother and sub-category structures organise the catalogue. Location-level stock views distinguish warehouse holdings, aircraft stock and items in transit.

Scheduled routines flag low stock and approaching expiry dates, giving the team a basis for replenishment and disposal decisions.

Global handler management

A directory that enables the actual handoff.

Handler records are parked against service-item workflows to give crews visibility into where they're supposed to be for dispatch, where items are waiting to be picked up, and where they've completed a pick-up.

Discrepancies & checklists

Note the problem. Attach the follow-up.

Checklist remarks and stock discrepancies are recorded so the responsible team can act on them. Users can upload or replace the PDF manual in the app, and the team can always refer to the latest version. Movement, consumption, and disposal histories remain available for later operational checks.

The flight operations compliance platform supports documentation and review workflows. Regulatory obligations and release-to-service decisions remain with the authorised aviation teams.

05 / Inside the iPad experience

Designed around what the crew is actually doing.

A permanent navigation rail ensures that inventory, disputes, reports, and checklists are just a glance away. Examine the original screens from the Figma design provided.

FAQ

Project questions, answered.

Planning an enterprise iPad app or a connected operations platform?

Talk to our engineers
How does Aviation TVS help teams manage inventory and operational references?

Aviation TVS helps teams manage inventory and operational references by bringing inventory tracking, tracking of assets in transit and to the handler, flight checklists and discrepancies to follow up on, and ability to upload or replace the PDF manual and view the latest version, into a Flutter tablet app with Node.js backend and MongoDB.

How does the Flutter app work with the backend?

The native Flutter client is for the tablet workflow. Flutter is used to make the iPad app, Node.js is used for the backend services, and MongoDB stores all operational records. The entire platform is deployed on AWS, and push notifications are handled using Firebase Cloud Messaging.

How does the system support operational reviews?

Movement of Stock, consumption, disposal and observation of checklist are documented for inspection. It must be noted that this case study does not purport to present an independently audited storage system nor a regulatory body certified solution
